Rainbow Disability Nepal

"Voices of Resilience: Documenting the Lives of LGBT+ Persons with Disabilities in Nepal" is a video documentation initiative that captures the experiences of individuals identifying as both LGBTQ+ and persons with disabilities in Nepal. Through in-depth interviews conducted by a prominent LGBTQ+ activist, professional videography, and the presence of a sign language interpreter, the project captured the nuanced stories of five participants.

The primary goal was to amplify the voices and experiences of LGBTQ+ persons with disabilities in Nepal, addressing systemic inequalities and contributing to a more inclusive and equitable society.

Future Plans

  • Media Inclusion: Advocate for regular representation of LGBTQ+ disabled perspectives in mainstream media. Work towards dismantling stereotypes through increased visibility and authentic portrayals.

  • Community Outreach: Expand engagement through video screenings and facilitated discussions. Foster dialogue to amplify marginalized voices and promote broader public understanding.

  • Capacity Building: Provide workshops on storytelling and advocacy skills for the LGBTQ+ disability community. Empower individuals with tools to effectively share their stories and advocate for their rights.
